Descendents

I saw into the future

Saw my descendents

Mer-Beings, Two Spirit

Slippery bodied, dark and supple

Fleshy, soft

Born in the water

I saw into the future

Saw the surf of 100 000 years

Had pummeled plastic particles

Into dust

The rainbow remnants of times beyond mere forgetting

I saw into the future

Felt their dreaming minds

Radiant

Connected to mine

Which, hopelessly inundated with scenes of senseless violence

Inhaled the golden threads of life on which they played

Fruit on the vine, sweet and sustaining

I saw into the future

Saw the love of those yet-to-come

Those not-yet-born

So distant as to be unrecognisable

No longer human

And still they are my kin

From water we come

To water we return

Cleansed, transformed, released

Into the boundless knowing

That we are always becoming

Even in the midst of great pain

I saw into the future

Saw my descendents

Mer-Beings, Two Spirit

Slippery bodied, dark and supple

Fleshy, soft

Born in the water
