A Strong Tide

Joy swims on the edges of this river
Holding 2000 years of chatter
Deep grainy scent
Our Father
Who runs through the heart
Of all his material boys and girls
Great-grandchildren
Playing on the shoreline
Making spirit forms
Driftwood and glass bottles
Shattered pieces
Last man’s game remnants
We are washed away
Up steps
Into foam and dust
Dangling feet into infinite trust
Their wild hearts stilled on the sides
Love reborn
On a strong tide
